Before joining Yale-NUS College, Dr Pei Gao was an Assistant Professor of Economics at New York University (NYU) Shanghai and Global Network Assistant Professor at NYU. She holds a Master of Science and PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research interests include Economic History and Development Economics, with a special focus on education and health.

Asst Prof Pei Gao’s research spans economic history and development economics. Her primary research focus is to understand the historical roots of modern economic development. Most of her research projects have sought to apply economic theory and econometric methods to historical and development settings, and to produce and make use of new and innovative databases.
