As Yale-NUS students journey through the Common Curriculum and explore their interests through electives, they may discover areas of unexpected academic intrigue.
At the end of their second year, each student will select a major. Students with multiple interests can also select a minor to broaden their academic perspectives. In their final year, each student delves deeper into their intellectual interests through a year-long project. This culminating capstone project enables them to develop and design a self-directed project, specific to their major, under the guidance of a faculty member.
Independent Minors
Students at Yale-NUS College have the opportunity to declare an optional ‘independent’ minor in Chinese Studies, Global Antiquity or our newest independent minor, Innovation and Design, in addition to the existing minors offered by the College.
Students start their academic journey at Yale-NUS with the Common Curriculum, which gives them a broad education in key subjects essential for twenty-first century living. With each passing semester, students are encouraged to focus on the study of a specific major and minor, while still taking additional electives in fields that are of interest to them.
