There is no better way to study a foreign culture than to actually live in it. While on study abroad, Anthropology students can enhance their understanding of the discipline by taking specialist courses that Yale-NUS does not offer or by immersing themselves in a foreign language they are learning. These courses may even count towards major requirements. Or they may inspire students to pursue a particular topic for their capstone.
Where to go for Study Abroad
Anthropology students should talk to their Pre-Major or Major Advisors, other Anthropology faculty and, most importantly, the Head of Studies to find out more about prospective places or programmes for study abroad.
Some of the partner institutions that Yale-NUS Anthropology students have gone to include:
- Amherst College, USA
- University College Utrecht, the Netherlands
- School for International Training International Honors Program (IHP)
- University of Auckland, New Zealand
- Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Chile

When to go for Study Abroad
Anthropology majors generally pursue a study abroad programme during their third year (Semester 1 or Semester 2), or during the summer.
