Students in the Arts and Humanities major have pursued study abroad opportunities to further develop their expertise in particular art forms, or gain more specialised practical experience outside of Yale-NUS College. The study abroad experience complements what students have already learned at Yale-NUS, while giving them the exposure to an even wider set of courses or different audiences and instructors as they hone their craft. The list below reflects a sample of the different institutions past students have attended for study abroad:
- School of Oriental and African Studies, UK
- Yale University, USA
- Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, UK
- New York University – Tisch School of the Arts, USA
- The New School – Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, USA
- Parsons Paris | The New School, France
- Sciences Po, France
- University College London, UK
- Columbia University, USA
- Yale in London – Paul Mellon Centre for British Art & Architecture, UK
- University of the Arts London, UK
- Arts University Bournemouth, UK
- University College Utrecht, the Netherlands
- American University, USA
When to go for Study Abroad
Arts and Humanities majors generally pursue study abroad programmes during their third year (Semester 1 or Semester 2), or during the summer if they choose to pursue this international opportunity. In most cases, it is not advisable for students to go abroad during their final year. Completing a semester abroad is not a graduation requirement.
Summer Arts Scholarship
The Centre for International & Professional Experience (CIPE) offers the Summer Arts Scholarship to support students interested in pursuing a rigorous arts programme in a more applied and technical setting, such as in studio and performing arts.
