The Summer Research Programme (SRP) allows students to pursue full-time, funded research in the humanities, sciences, or social sciences during the mid-year break from May to August. The SRP also includes skill-building workshops on abstract writing for research, creating posters and presentations, communicating research to non-specialists and working effectively with supervisors. The summer research culminates in student presentations at the annual Summer Research Symposium.
Students acquire foundational research experience and receive dedicated mentorship from Yale-NUS faculty supervisors.
Student-Initiated Research Projects
Students, who have prior experience in research, work with a faculty supervisor to craft and execute a student-initiated research project.
Further Research Opportunities
Summer Research at Yale University
Students can conduct original research in science, technology or engineering under the supervision of a Yale faculty mentor through the Yale College Dean’s Research Fellowship.
Summer Research at Harvard University
Students can conduct life sciences research through summer research opportunities at Harvard and the Summer Honors Undergraduate Research Programme.
CIPE-Coordinated Research Internships
Students can apply for internships in the areas of science, technology, and research (in both science and non-science disciplines).
On-campus jobs
Students can apply for part-time research assistant positions with Yale-NUS faculty members during term time, and part-time or full-time positions during semester breaks.
External Summer Research Programmes and Scholarships
Students can receive support from the Centre for International & Professional Experience (CIPE) advisors to apply for competitive research programmes and fellowships hosted by external organisations worldwide.
Helping students see themselves as part of a scholarly ecosystem
CIPE offers opportunities and resources to support students in developing research experience and skills.

CLASS OF 2020
The SRP is an excellent programme to help students considering a career in research make an informed decision. In the SRP I was entrusted with responsibilities as a research assistant, which gave me a holistic experience of what research entails.
Madison Lommen
CLASS OF 2021
The SRP offered an opportunity to build a relationship with a professor that is valuable on both a personal and professional/academic level. It also offered insight into how academics go about their work. I appreciated both learnings during my SRP.
Freya Lalani
CLASS OF 2022
The SRP was great to get in-depth research experience and understand how research works. I built knowledge in the chosen field of study and honed my research skills; I also gained insight into what pursuing research as a career would be like.
