Learning Across Boundaries

Learning Across Boundaries (LABs) are faculty-led experiential learning projects of short duration, developed in collaboration with the Centre for International & Professional Experience (CIPE).

LABs allow faculty to share their scholarship with students outside of the classroom and create an opportunity for students to explore the curriculum in broader, real-world contexts.

NING YIRAN

CLASS OF 2023

Besides experiencing field research, the diversity and beauty of birds amazed me. By engaging various stakeholders, I became more appreciative of how crucial fieldwork is to wildlife conservation and its complexity in Singapore.

CARINE CHAN SZE CHING

CLASS OF 2023

I learnt much about Singapore and Bintans’ histories, and met classmates who are now close friends. I also worked with Prof on a history research project subsequently. Week 7 paved the way for my budding interest and work in the field of history.

CLAY EATON

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN HUMANITIES (HISTORY)

It is difficult to get a sense of Singapore’s rich history, especially beyond a few events that have dominated public memory over time. However, our students produced one of the most nuanced exhibits on the relationship between the present and past.

VINOD KUMAR SARANATHAN

SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW IN SCIENCE

It was rewarding to see students’ unbridled enthusiasm and curiosity in Week 7. They quickly came up to speed with the latest thinking in conservation science and applied that to the field data collected to create thought-provoking presentations.
