Deans Jeannette Ickovics, Teo Yik Ying and Sten Vermund discuss opportunities and challenges to assure global health now and in the future. The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed our lives and may define a generation. Its reverberations continue to impact health, social and economic conditions worldwide. We have witnessed accelerated change in vaccine development and distribution, telemedicine, technology, remote work and education. Panellists will discuss how best to sustain advances, build durable health infrastructure, and leverage effective public-private partnerships. Social and behavioural determinants of disease, healthcare equity and vaccine hesitancy also will be addressed. Our responses today will impact our ability to prevent and respond to the next pandemic threat.
