Dining

You are required to download the mobile application ‘NUS Hostel Dining’from Apple Appstore or Google Playstore onto your mobile phone and login using your NUS Net-id and password. The mobile phone must have a minimum Android version of 7.0 and above. Upon logging in, scan QR code at the dining station and indicate number of meal credits to deduct. 

You may approach the Catering Supervisor at the Dining Hall and they will direct you to the Offline Manual Recording System (OMR) to either scan for a meal coupon or key in manually your student ID details to redeem your meal. 

Pricing structure for Breakfast and Dinner are different, therefore meal credits are non-interchangeable (i.e. Breakfast credits can only be used during Breakfast period). 

If you’d like an additional serving of carbohydrates and/or vegetables, do let the servery staff know so they may add onto your plate. For an extra portion of protein, you will have to utilise a second meal credit by scanning at the meal station again.  

You are only allowed to utilise maximum of 3 credits per meal. 

Yes, please bring your own containers. Do note that Smorgasbord is not responsible for the quality of the meal once it leaves the dining hall. Grab and Go option is also available at the servery during dining hours. 

Yes, you may collect food for your friend by first claiming a meal credit using your account in the dining app. You can then request your friend to transfer the meal credit consumed.  

To transfer credits, you would need to select ‘Transfer Credit’ from the profile page of the Dining App, enter in the NUS Net-ID of the recipient and confirm the number of credits to transfer. The consumption limit per meal period would still apply. 

We have four food stations serving a variety of cuisines and dietary needs. Students can choose to look at what is being served on the NUS Dining App or head to the dining halls to decide what they would like to eat.  

Unfortunately, the dining halls only operate during the stated meal hours. Hence, if you missed dining hours, you may have to purchase your food from elsewhere. Do note that meal credits expire only at the end of the semester.  Unused credits at the end of the semester will be forfeited. 

Yes, please write in to Student Accessibility Support to let us know of your dietary needs.  

Please also let the servery staff at the dining hall know of your dietary needs at the point of collecting your food.  

No, meals are included in your residential housing bills, at a subsidised rate. You will have to pay for the meal plan regardless of meal consumption.  

As a student at Yale-NUS College, you may dine at Cendana dining hall. 

Please provide your feedback on your dining experience to Yale-NUS Dining Experience Team or NUS via the NUS Dining App. 

For urgent dining matters, (e.g., food safety, hygiene) please approach the servery staff in the dining halls immediately.
