Nageen Ayesha Rameez is an Environmental Studies major from Pakistan. She engages with the arts through her environmental poetry, while advocating for climate solutions through data driven policy interventions. She is grateful for the peers in her major who taught her what it means to fight tough battles together.
During her three years as a Student Associate at the Yale-NUS College Student Affairs Office (SAO), Nageen has been profoundly inspired by the Class of 2024. Her roles included working with Student Organisations and Leadership, and later, the Intercultural Engagement office. Throughout this time, she has witnessed the remarkable talent of her class, both in taking the initiative as well as supporting one another. As such, she finds immense inspiration in her peers who have been the backbone of a community that has faced countless challenges, from COVID-19 to the upcoming closure of the College.
Nageen also cherishes the community she found through Body-Ody and the In-Betweeners, as well as the inspiring people she engaged with while working on the Legacy Project. She hopes that senior year is a time of reflection but also celebration for her class, as they have grown so much over the last four years. She is proud of her peers for their unwavering resilience in the face of uncertainty and their limitless compassion for one another. As she prepares to graduate, she holds these lessons close to her for future trials and triumphs.
Nageen is looking forward to reflecting with her class on graduation, and hopes that her speech can help capture parts of their journey together while also offering one last bittersweet hurrah.
