Orientation: Lift Off
Orientation kickstarts the Yale-NUS education for first-year students and provides them with an opportunity to meet their classmates, immerse themselves into the community and the larger campus life, and learn about the resources at the College. In 2019, the theme for orientation was “Lift Off”, which represented the launch of the students’ journey at Yale-NUS, and the aspiration to achieve great heights and aim for the stars.
First Year Assembly ’19
On 8 August 2019, weeks of orientation culminated in First Year Assembly ‘19, an annual ceremony where new students are formally welcomed by the Yale-NUS community. Aside from speeches by key College figures, the ceremony also featured a performance by Betina Choa (Class of 2021) and Carson Huang (Class of 2020), as well as the Yale-NUS Barbershop Chorus.
