Information literacy instruction and effective use of the Library’s resources and services

The librarians are happy to collaborate and to come into your class to provide tailored information literacy instruction related to your course projects and assignments.  We can design hands-on activities for all levels around a variety of topics, including (but not limited to):

Courses we teach

  • Evaluating and optimizing information resources for research and study.
  • Developing search strategies.
  • Using the library’s catalogue to look for books and journals.
  • Identifying and searching specialized databases.
  • Mining a good article to discover other relevant sources on a topic.
  • Evaluating information – Learning the difference between scholarly and popular materials.
  • Tracking the literature to find articles which cited an important work.
  • Citation and research management skills.

Services we provide

Collection Development

  • Develop the Library’s collection through selecting books, media, and specialised e-resources.
  • Purchase request for Yale-NUS College Library’s Collection.

Research consultations

Yale-NUS College librarians are available to meet with students about their research needs. Students can drop by the Library for assistance; however, for in-depth questions, please email us at library@yale-nus.edu.sg

Online guides for finding appropriate databases and resources

Research guides are available through the NUS Libraries portal. In addition to the many guides created by NUS librarians, Yale-NUS College librarians are creating guides tailored to the Yale-NUS College curriculum. Check out our Research Guides.
